Background
In preparation for a new model, the company embarked on a transformation project featuring the restructure of the inbound supply chain and establishment of a Spare Parts and OEM consolidation centre on site in Adelaide, SA.
Challenge
- Assist client to develop a business case for implementation of an ‘in-house’ managed solution for the development of new OEM and Spare Parts Distribution Centre
- Develop a productive environment to receive, store and handle approximately 1.8m pallet movements per annum and maintain > 99% traceability and accuracy
- Determine the required facility capacity to accommodate consolidated current inventories and projected demand 5 years into the future
Key Project Outcomes
- Facility layout, design and material flow for 8,000 m2 Spare Parts Distribution Centre
- Improved cube utilisation and high density storage for small, medium and large parts
- Prepared capital and operating cost budgets for recommended improvement items over short, medium and long term time horizons
